6 year old Vidhya Madana will be introduced to the rich world of service by volunteering as a Marketing Director for the Hough School Chess Tournament to be held on Feb 25th 2012. She will be busy along with students from other schools to think of ways to promote the tournament in order to make it a successful event. So far almost $26,000 has been raised for the medical and educational needs for 8 year old Meher.

Chess Without Borders is delighted to support young students who volunteer often following the example of older students like. Students are free to create their own models of service as long as they try to achieve the goals set out for them. Most of them continue to volunteer for other programs and enjoy their leadership role at an early age. Many of our volunteers have won individual awards and honors for their work and over 50 students have participated in the national Presidential Volunteer Service Award program conducted through the White House.

Vidya attends Hough St. School where she is in 1st Grade. She is learning chess from past 1 1/2 yr. She also does Tae Kwon Do, swimming and gymnastics classes. She was the recipient of ‘Best Citizenship’ Award for her class, last year in Kindergarten. Vidya went to preschool in India for 1 1/2 years where she learnt Telugu  and is now trying to learn another new language, Hindi too.
We are proud of our enterprising students.
