Emmy Nomination for “ A Future for Meher”

The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences have nominated the documentary “A Future for Meher” which chronicles the efforts made by our chess students, parents, teachers and community for an Emmy Award.

“A Future for Meher” is a testament to the generosity of our growing chess community and the hundreds of volunteers who gave their time and energy for a girl on the other side of the world.

In 2009, Good Shepherd Hospital honored Chess Without Borders with an Unsung Hero Award for its humanitarian work. Over the last 3 years students from District 220, St Anne’s, Elgin Academy, Quest Academy, District 26 and the Barrington Community have raised $26,000 to provide medical services for a little girl living in the slums of India

And the efforts continue. Recent graduate Austen Murrow returned from Delhi after spending 3 months serving in Delhi strengthening the link between our community and a community filled with children like Meher.
